أَصْبَحْنَا وَأَصْبَحَ الْمُلْكُ لِلَّهِ، وَالْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ، لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ وَحْدَهُ لَا شَرِيكَ لَهُ، لَهُ الْمُلْكُ وَلَهُ الْحَمْدُ وَهُوَ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيرٌ

Transliteration

aSbaHnâ wa aSbaHal-mulku lillâh, wal-Hamdu lillâh, lâ ilâha illallâhu waHdahu lâ shareeka lah, lahul-mulku wa lahul-Hamd, wa huwa 'alâ kulli shay'in Qadeer.

Meaning

We have reached the morning and at this very time the whole kingdom belongs to Allah. All praise is due to Allah. None has the right to be worshipped except Allah alone, without any partner.

Evening Remembrance

أَمْسَيْنَا وَأَمْسَى الْمُلْكُ لِلَّهِ، وَالْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ، لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ وَحْدَهُ لَا شَرِيكَ لَهُ، لَهُ الْمُلْكُ وَلَهُ الْحَمْدُ وَهُوَ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيرٌ

Transliteration

Amsaynâ wa amsal-mulku lillâh, wal-Hamdu lillâh, lâ ilâha illallâhu waHdahu lâ shareeka lah, lahul-mulku wa lahul-Hamd, wa huwa 'alâ kulli shay'in Qadeer.

Meaning

We have reached the evening and at this very time the whole kingdom belongs to Allah. All praise is due to Allah. None has the right to be worshipped except Allah alone, without any partner.

Ayatul Kursi (Protection)

اللَّهُ لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ الْحَيُّ الْقَيُّومُ ۚ لَا تَأْخُذُهُ سِنَةٌ وَلَا نَوْمٌ ۚ لَهُ مَا فِي السَّمَاوَاتِ وَمَا فِي الْأَرْضِ

Transliteration

Allâhu lâ ilâha illâ huwa, al-Hayyul-Qayyoom. Lâ ta'khudhuhu sinatun wa lâ nawm. Lahu mâ fis-samâwâti wa mâ fil-arD...

Meaning

Allah - there is no deity except Him, the Ever-Living, the Sustainer of existence. Neither drowsiness overtakes Him nor sleep. To Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth.

Morning/Evening Protection (3x)

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الَّذِي لَا يَضُرُّ مَعَ اسْمِهِ شَيْءٌ فِي الْأَرْضِ وَلَا فِي السَّمَاءِ وَهُوَ السَّمِيعُ الْعَلِيمُ

Transliteration

Bismillâhil-ladhee lâ yaDuRRu ma'asmihi shay'un fil-arDi wa lâ fis-samâ'i, wa huwas-Samee'ul-'Aleem.

Meaning

In the name of Allah, with whose name nothing on earth or in heaven can cause harm, and He is the All-Hearing, All-Knowing.

Transliteration

Allâhumma-kfinee bi-Halâlika 'an Harâmik, wa aghninee bi-faDlika 'amman siwâk.

Meaning

O Allah, suffice me with what You have allowed instead of what You have forbidden, and make me independent of all others besides You.

Istighfar for Abundance

أَسْتَغْفِرُ اللَّهَ الْعَظِيمَ الَّذِي لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ الْحَيَّ الْقَيُّومَ وَأَتُوبُ إِلَيْهِ

Transliteration

AstaghfiRullâhal-'aZeemal-ladhee lâ ilâha illâ Huwal-Hayyal-Qayyooma wa atoobu ilayh.

Meaning

I seek forgiveness from Allah, the Magnificent, whom there is no deity but Him, the Ever-Living, the Sustainer, and I repent to Him.

Dua of Musa (Moses) for Good

When seeking provision, a job, or any good from AllahQuran 28:24

رَبِّ إِنِّي لِمَا أَنْزَلْتَ إِلَيَّ مِنْ خَيْرٍ فَقِيرٌ

Transliteration

Rabbi innee limâ anzalta ilayya min khayrin faQeeR.

Meaning

My Lord, indeed I am, for whatever good You would send down to me, in need.

Rabbanâ hab lanâ min azwâjinâ wa dhurriyyâtinâ QuRRata a'yun, waj'alnâ lil-muttaQeena imâmâ.

Meaning

Our Lord, grant us from our spouses and offspring comfort to our eyes, and make us leaders of the righteous.

Dua Before Getting Married

اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ خَيْرَهَا وَخَيْرَ مَا جَبَلْتَهَا عَلَيْهِ، وَأَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ شَرِّهَا وَشَرِّ مَا جَبَلْتَهَا عَلَيْهِ

Transliteration

Allâhumma innee as'aluka khayRahâ wa khayRa mâ jabaltahâ 'alayh, wa a'oodhu bika min sharrihâ wa sharri mâ jabaltahâ 'alayh.

Meaning

O Allah, I ask You for the good in her and the good that You have made her inclined towards. And I seek refuge in You from the evil in her and the evil You have made her inclined towards.

Istikhara (Seeking Guidance)

Pray 2 rakaat, then make this dua when deciding about marriage or any important matterBukhari

اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْتَخِيرُكَ بِعِلْمِكَ، وَأَسْتَقْدِرُكَ بِقُدْرَتِكَ، وَأَسْأَلُكَ مِنْ فَضْلِكَ الْعَظِيمِ

Transliteration

Allâhumma innee astakheeRuka bi-'ilmik, wa astaQdiRuka bi-QudRatik, wa as'aluka min faDlikal-'aZeem.

Meaning

O Allah, I seek Your guidance through Your knowledge, and I seek ability through Your power, and I ask You from Your immense bounty.

رَبِّ لَا تَذَرْنِي فَرْدًا وَأَنْتَ خَيْرُ الْوَارِثِينَ

Transliteration

Rabbi lâ tadharnee fardan wa anta khayRul-wâritheen.

Meaning

My Lord, do not leave me alone (without an heir), and You are the best of inheritors.

Dua for Children to be Steadfast in Prayer

رَبِّ اجْعَلْنِي مُقِيمَ الصَّلَاةِ وَمِنْ ذُرِّيَّتِي ۚ رَبَّنَا وَتَقَبَّلْ دُعَاءِ

Transliteration

Rabbij-'alnee muQeemaS-Salâti wa min dhurriyyatee, Rabbanâ wa taQabbal du'â'.

Meaning

My Lord, make me an establisher of prayer, and (many) from my descendants. Our Lord, and accept my supplication.

Protection for Children

Prophet ﷺ used to say this for Hasan & HusainBukhari

أُعِيذُكُمَا بِكَلِمَاتِ اللَّهِ التَّامَّةِ مِنْ كُلِّ شَيْطَانٍ وَهَامَّةٍ وَمِنْ كُلِّ عَيْنٍ لَامَّةٍ

Transliteration

U'eedhukumâ bi-kalimâtillâhit-tâmmah, min kulli shayTânin wa hâmmah, wa min kulli 'aynin lâmmah.

Meaning

I seek refuge for you both in the perfect words of Allah, from every devil and every poisonous creature, and from every envious evil eye.

رَبِّ زِدْنِي عِلْمًا

Transliteration

Rabbi zidnee 'ilmâ.

Meaning

My Lord, increase me in knowledge.

Transliteration

Rabbish-RaHlee Sadree, wa yassir lee amree, waHlul 'uQdatan min lisânee, yafQahoo Qawlee.

Meaning

My Lord, expand my chest, ease my task for me, and remove the impediment from my speech so they may understand what I say.

Dua When Studying

Before or after studyingIbn Majah

اللَّهُمَّ انْفَعْنِي بِمَا عَلَّمْتَنِي، وَعَلِّمْنِي مَا يَنْفَعُنِي، وَزِدْنِي عِلْمًا

Transliteration

Allâhumma-nfa'nee bimâ 'allamtanee, wa 'allimnee mâ yanfa'unee, wa zidnee 'ilmâ.

Meaning

O Allah, benefit me with what You have taught me, teach me what will benefit me, and increase me in knowledge.

Dua for Easy Understanding

اللَّهُمَّ لَا سَهْلَ إِلَّا مَا جَعَلْتَهُ سَهْلًا، وَأَنْتَ تَجْعَلُ الْحَزْنَ إِذَا شِئْتَ سَهْلًا

Transliteration

Allâhumma lâ sahla illâ mâ ja'altahu sahlâ, wa anta taj'alul-Hazna idhâ shi'ta sahlâ.

Meaning

O Allah, there is no ease except in that which You have made easy, and You make difficulty easy if it be Your Will.

The Prophet ﷺ said: No Muslim calls upon Allah with this except that his call is answeredQuran 21:87

لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ سُبْحَانَكَ إِنِّي كُنْتُ مِنَ الظَّالِمِينَ

Transliteration

Lâ ilâha illâ anta, subHânaka, innee kuntu minaZ-Zâlimeen.

Meaning

There is no deity except You; exalted are You. Indeed, I have been of the wrongdoers.

Dua for Anxiety & Sorrow

اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنَ الْهَمِّ وَالْحَزَنِ، وَالْعَجْزِ وَالْكَسَلِ، وَالْبُخْلِ وَالْجُبْنِ، وَضَلَعِ الدَّيْنِ وَغَلَبَةِ الرِّجَالِ

Transliteration

Allâhumma innee a'oodhu bika minal-hammi wal-Hazan, wal-'ajzi wal-kasal, wal-bukhli wal-jubn, wa Dala'id-dayni wa ghalabatir-rijâl.

Meaning

O Allah, I seek refuge in You from worry and grief, from weakness and laziness, from miserliness and cowardice, from being overcome by debt and overpowered by people.

When Overwhelmed

When facing any difficulty or feeling overwhelmedQuran 3:173

حَسْبُنَا اللَّهُ وَنِعْمَ الْوَكِيلُ

Transliteration

Hasbunallâhu wa ni'mal-wakeel.

Meaning

Sufficient for us is Allah, and He is the best Disposer of affairs.

Dua for Relief & Patience

إِنَّا لِلَّهِ وَإِنَّا إِلَيْهِ رَاجِعُونَ، اللَّهُمَّ أْجُرْنِي فِي مُصِيبَتِي وَأَخْلِفْ لِي خَيْرًا مِنْهَا

Innâ lillâhi wa innâ ilayhi Râji'oon. Allâhumma'jurnee fee muSeebatee wa akhlif lee khayRan minhâ.

Meaning

We belong to Allah and to Him we shall return. O Allah, reward me for my affliction and replace it with something better.

Rabbir-Hamhumâ kamâ Rabbayânee SagheeRan.

My Lord, have mercy upon them as they brought me up when I was small.

Dua for Parents' Forgiveness

رَبَّنَا اغْفِرْ لِي وَلِوَالِدَيَّ وَلِلْمُؤْمِنِينَ يَوْمَ يَقُومُ الْحِسَابُ

Transliteration

Rabbanâ-ghfir lee wa li-wâlidayya wa lil-mu'mineena yawma yaQoomul-Hisâb.

Meaning

Our Lord, forgive me and my parents and the believers on the Day the account is established.

Dua for Deceased Parents

اللَّهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لَهُ وَارْحَمْهُ وَعَافِهِ وَاعْفُ عَنْهُ، وَأَكْرِمْ نُزُلَهُ وَوَسِّعْ مُدْخَلَهُ

Transliteration

Allâhumma-ghfir lahu warHamhu wa 'âfihi wa'fu 'anhu, wa akrim nuzulahu wa wassi' mudkhalah.

Meaning

O Allah, forgive them and have mercy on them, give them health and pardon them, honor their reception and make their entrance wide.

Sayyidul Istighfar (Master of Forgiveness)

The Prophet ﷺ said: whoever says this sincerely and dies that day enters ParadiseBukhari

اللَّهُمَّ أَنْتَ رَبِّي لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ خَلَقْتَنِي وَأَنَا عَبْدُكَ وَأَنَا عَلَىٰ عَهْدِكَ وَوَعْدِكَ مَا اسْتَطَعْتُ أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ شَرِّ مَا صَنَعْتُ أَبُوءُ لَكَ بِنِعْمَتِكَ عَلَيَّ وَأَبُوءُ لَكَ بِذَنْبِي فَاغْفِرْ لِي فَإِنَّهُ لَا يَغْفِرُ الذُّنُوبَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ

Transliteration

Allâhumma anta Rabbee lâ ilâha illâ anta, khalaQtanee wa ana 'abduk, wa ana 'alâ 'ahdika wa wa'dika mastaTa't. A'oodhu bika min sharri mâ Sana't, aboo'u laka bi-ni'matika 'alayya wa aboo'u laka bi-dhanbee, faghfir lee fa innahu lâ yaghfiRudh-dhunooba illâ ant.

Meaning

O Allah, You are my Lord. There is no god but You. You created me and I am Your servant. I keep my covenant with You as much as I can. I seek refuge in You from the evil of what I have done. I acknowledge Your blessings upon me and I confess my sins to You. So forgive me, for none can forgive sins except You.

Simple but Powerful Istighfar

Prophet ﷺ used to say this 100 times a dayMuslim

أَسْتَغْفِرُ اللَّهَ وَأَتُوبُ إِلَيْهِ

Transliteration

AstaghfiRullâha wa atoobu ilayh.

Meaning

I seek Allah's forgiveness and I repent to Him.

Comprehensive Dua for Forgiveness

The dua of Adam and Hawa (Eve) - for any sinQuran 7:23

رَبَّنَا ظَلَمْنَا أَنْفُسَنَا وَإِنْ لَمْ تَغْفِرْ لَنَا وَتَرْحَمْنَا لَنَكُونَنَّ مِنَ الْخَاسِرِينَ

Transliteration

Rabbanâ Zalamnâ anfusanâ wa in lam taghfir lanâ wa tarHamnâ lanakoonanna minal-khâsireen.

Meaning

Our Lord, we have wronged ourselves, and if You do not forgive us and have mercy upon us, we will surely be among the losers.

اللَّهُمَّ رَبَّ النَّاسِ، أَذْهِبِ الْبَأْسَ، اشْفِهِ وَأَنْتَ الشَّافِي، لَا شِفَاءَ إِلَّا شِفَاؤُكَ، شِفَاءً لَا يُغَادِرُ سَقَمًا

Transliteration

Allâhumma Rabban-nâs, adhhibil-ba's, ishfihi wa antash-Shâfee, lâ shifâ'a illâ shifâ'uk, shifâ'an lâ yughâdiRu saQamâ.

Meaning

O Allah, Lord of mankind, remove the harm, heal him/her for You are the Healer. There is no healing except Your healing, a healing that leaves no disease behind.

Visiting the Sick (7x)

Say 7 times when visiting someone who is illAbu Dawud

أَسْأَلُ اللَّهَ الْعَظِيمَ، رَبَّ الْعَرْشِ الْعَظِيمِ، أَنْ يَشْفِيَكَ

Transliteration

As'alullâhal-'aZeema, Rabbal-'arshil-'aZeem, an yashfiyak.

Meaning

I ask Allah the Magnificent, Lord of the Magnificent Throne, to heal you.

Dua for Good Health

اللَّهُمَّ عَافِنِي فِي بَدَنِي، اللَّهُمَّ عَافِنِي فِي سَمْعِي، اللَّهُمَّ عَافِنِي فِي بَصَرِي

Transliteration

Allâhumma 'âfinee fee badanee, Allâhumma 'âfinee fee sam'ee, Allâhumma 'âfinee fee baSaree.

Meaning

O Allah, grant me health in my body. O Allah, grant me health in my hearing. O Allah, grant me health in my sight.

الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي أَطْعَمَنِي هَٰذَا وَرَزَقَنِيهِ مِنْ غَيْرِ حَوْلٍ مِنِّي وَلَا قُوَّةٍ

Transliteration

Al-Hamdu lillâhil-ladhee aT'amanee hâdhâ wa RazaQaneehi min ghayri Hawlin minnee wa lâ Quwwah.

Meaning

All praise is due to Allah who fed me this and provided it for me without any might or power on my part.

Before Sleeping

When lying down to sleepBukhari

بِاسْمِكَ اللَّهُمَّ أَمُوتُ وَأَحْيَا

Transliteration

Bismika Allâhumma amootu wa aHyâ.

Meaning

In Your name, O Allah, I die and I live.

Upon Waking Up

Immediately upon wakingBukhari

الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي أَحْيَانَا بَعْدَ مَا أَمَاتَنَا وَإِلَيْهِ النُّشُورُ

Transliteration

Al-Hamdu lillâhil-ladhee aHyânâ ba'da mâ amâtanâ wa ilayhin-nushooR.

Meaning

All praise is due to Allah who gave us life after causing us to die, and to Him is the resurrection.

Leaving Home

When leaving homeAbu Dawud

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ، تَوَكَّلْتُ عَلَى اللَّهِ، وَلَا حَوْلَ وَلَا قُوَّةَ إِلَّا بِاللَّهِ

Transliteration

Bismillâh, tawakkaltu 'alallâh, wa lâ Hawla wa lâ Quwwata illâ billâh.

Meaning

In the name of Allah, I place my trust in Allah, and there is no might nor power except with Allah.

Starting a Journey

When boarding any vehicleQuran 43:13-14

سُبْحَانَ الَّذِي سَخَّرَ لَنَا هَٰذَا وَمَا كُنَّا لَهُ مُقْرِنِينَ، وَإِنَّا إِلَىٰ رَبِّنَا لَمُنْقَلِبُونَ

Transliteration

SubHânal-ladhee sakhkhaRa lanâ hâdhâ wa mâ kunnâ lahu muQrineen, wa innâ ilâ Rabbinâ lamunQaliboon.

Meaning

Glory be to Him who has subjected this to us, and we could never have it by our efforts, and to our Lord we shall return.

Entering the Bathroom

Enter with left footBukhari & Muslim

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ، اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنَ الْخُبُثِ وَالْخَبَائِثِ

Transliteration

Bismillâh, Allâhumma innee a'oodhu bika minal-khubuthi wal-khabâ'ith.

Meaning

In the name of Allah. O Allah, I seek refuge in You from evil spirits.

Entering the Masjid

Enter with right footMuslim

اللَّهُمَّ افْتَحْ لِي أَبْوَابَ رَحْمَتِكَ

Transliteration

Allâhumma-ftaH lee abwâba RaHmatik.

Meaning

O Allah, open for me the doors of Your mercy.

Begin with praising Allah and sending blessings on the Prophet ﷺ

Be sincere and have certainty that Allah will respond

Best times: last third of night, between adhan & iqamah, while fasting, on Friday

Face the Qibla if possible and raise your hands
