About Surah Nuh
Surah Nuh (Arabic: نوح), meaning "Noah", is the 71st chapter of the Quran and has 28 verses. It was revealed in Makkah, before the Hijrah, while the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) was calling a people who largely turned away from him. The surah is the story of a tireless call: the Prophet Nuh's appeal to his people, and the fate of those who refused to listen.
The whole surah is devoted to Nuh. It opens with Allah sending him to warn his people before a painful punishment, and then gives Nuh's own account to his Lord: he called them night and day, openly and privately, yet they put their fingers in their ears, covered themselves with their garments and grew more arrogant. He urged them to seek forgiveness, promising that Allah would send abundant rain and give them wealth, children, gardens and rivers, and he pointed them to the stages of their creation, the layered heavens, the moon as a light and the sun as a lamp. His people clung to their idols Wadd, Suwa', Yaghuth, Ya'uq and Nasr, and were drowned for their sins. The surah ends with Nuh's prayer against the disbelievers and his prayer of forgiveness for himself, his parents and the believers.

Frequently Asked Questions About Surah Nuh
- What is Surah Nuh about?

- What does Surah Nuh teach about istighfar?
- In verses 10 to 12, Nuh tells his people to seek forgiveness from their Lord, who is Ever-Forgiving, promising that He will send rain in abundance and provide wealth, children, gardens and rivers.
