Chapter 87 · The Most High · Juz 30
إِلَّا مَا شَآءَ ٱللَّهُ ۚ إِنَّهُۥ يَعْلَمُ ٱلْجَهْرَ وَمَا يَخْفَىٰ
Illaa maa shaaa'al laah; innahoo ya'lamul jahra wa maa yakhfaa
Except what Allah should will. Indeed, He knows what is declared and what is hidden.
Quran 87:7 — Surah Al-Ala
This is verse 7 of 19 in Surah Al-Ala (الأعلى), meaning “The Most High”. It is a Meccan surah — revealed in Makkah before the Hijrah. This verse is located in Juz 30 (Part 30) of the Quran.

Illaa maa shaaa'al laah; innahoo ya'lamul jahra wa maa yakhfaa
فَجَعَلَهُۥ غُثَآءً أَحْوَىٰ
And [then] makes it black stubble.
سَنُقْرِئُكَ فَلَا تَنسَىٰٓ
We will make you recite, [O Muhammad], and you will not forget,
إِلَّا مَا شَآءَ ٱللَّهُ ۚ إِنَّهُۥ يَعْلَمُ ٱلْجَهْرَ وَمَا يَخْفَىٰ
Except what Allah should will. Indeed, He knows what is declared and what is hidden.
وَنُيَسِّرُكَ لِلْيُسْرَىٰ
And We will ease you toward ease.
فَذَكِّرْ إِن نَّفَعَتِ ٱلذِّكْرَىٰ
So remind, if the reminder should benefit;
