Chapter 37 · Those Who Set The Ranks · Juz 23
إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوٓا۟ إِذَا قِيلَ لَهُمْ لَآ إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا ٱللَّهُ يَسْتَكْبِرُونَ
Innahum kaanooo izaa qeela lahum laaa ilaaha illal laahu yastakbiroon
Indeed they, when it was said to them, "There is no deity but Allah," were arrogant
Quran 37:35 — Surah As-Saffat
This is verse 35 of 182 in Surah As-Saffat (الصافات), meaning “Those Who Set The Ranks”. It is a Meccan surah — revealed in Makkah before the Hijrah. This verse is located in Juz 23 (Part 23) of the Quran.

Innahum kaanooo izaa qeela lahum laaa ilaaha illal laahu yastakbiroon
فَإِنَّهُمْ يَوْمَئِذٍۢ فِى ٱلْعَذَابِ مُشْتَرِكُونَ
So indeed they, that Day, will be sharing in the punishment.
إِنَّا كَذَٰلِكَ نَفْعَلُ بِٱلْمُجْرِمِينَ
Indeed, that is how We deal with the criminals.
إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوٓا۟ إِذَا قِيلَ لَهُمْ لَآ إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا ٱللَّهُ يَسْتَكْبِرُونَ
Indeed they, when it was said to them, "There is no deity but Allah," were arrogant
وَيَقُولُونَ أَئِنَّا لَتَارِكُوٓا۟ ءَالِهَتِنَا لِشَاعِرٍۢ مَّجْنُونٍۭ
And were saying, "Are we to leave our gods for a mad poet?"
بَلْ جَآءَ بِٱلْحَقِّ وَصَدَّقَ ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَ
Rather, the Prophet has come with the truth and confirmed the [previous] messengers.
