About Surah Al-Bayyinah
Surah Al-Bayyinah (Arabic: البينة), meaning "The Clear Proof", is the 98th chapter of the Quran and has 8 verses. Scholars differ on where it was revealed; the mushaf labels it Madinan. The surah is about the clear proof Allah sent in the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), and how people's response to it divides them into the best and worst of creation.
The surah states that those who disbelieved among the People of the Book and the idolaters would not let go of their ways until the clear proof came to them: a Messenger from Allah reciting purified pages containing upright writings. Yet those given the Scripture only divided after that clear evidence had reached them. They had been commanded only to worship Allah alone with sincere devotion, inclining to the truth, to establish prayer and give zakah, and that is the correct religion. Those who reject it are called the worst of creatures, and those who believe and do righteous deeds the best of creatures, rewarded with gardens of Eden forever, Allah pleased with them and they pleased with Him. Sahih al-Bukhari and Sahih Muslim report that Allah commanded the Prophet to recite this surah to Ubayy ibn Ka'b, who wept on learning that Allah had mentioned him by name.
