Ruqyah is the practice of reciting Quran and authentic supplications for protection and healing. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) practiced it regularly and encouraged his companions to do the same.
Steps for Self-Ruqyah:
- 1.Make wudu (ablution) and sit in a clean, quiet place
- 2.Begin with sincere intention and trust in Allah alone as the Healer
- 3.Recite Surah Al-Fatiha (3 or 7 times), Ayat al-Kursi, the last 2 verses of Al-Baqarah, and the 3 Quls (Al-Ikhlas, Al-Falaq, An-Nas)
- 4.Blow gently into your palms after reciting and wipe over your body, starting with the face
- 5.You may also recite over water and drink it, or recite over olive oil and apply it — both are from the Sunnah
- 6.Be consistent — ruqyah is most effective when practiced daily with full conviction
“The Prophet, when he went to bed every night, would cup his hands together, blow into them, and recite Al-Ikhlas, Al-Falaq, and An-Nas, then wipe over as much of his body as he could.”
